Sandy Run Park

We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2021 Sandy Run Novella Award as Susan Fox of New York City, New York for her work, The Names of the Dead. The semi-finalists and finalists of the 2021 Cycle of the Sandy Run Novella Award have also been announced.  The full list can be found here

The Sandy Run Novella Award is offered on odd-number years for an unpublished novella. The next award year will be 2023.  The winning manuscript will be published by Hidden River Press, an imprint of Hidden River Publishing, and will receive $1000.  Entry fee: $20 US. This competition is open to international submissions for all writers in English.

All submissions must be between 17,500 and 40,000 words and should include name, address, telephone number, email, website (if you have one), a brief biography, full synopsis. outline, and full manuscript (in that order, please).

Submissions which do not have all the required support materials will not be read.  Online submissions are to be uploaded to Submittable. Please note that, when submitting online, all materials must be combined into ONE document before uploading. Be sure to upload all required materials, including the synopsis BEFORE the manuscript, which should be uploaded last.  We repeat: Submissions that fail to include all the required support materials will not be read.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted. We ask only that you contact us asap if you place the manuscript for publication elsewhere. Multiple submissions are also accepted, but must be submitted separately.

The announcements of the semi-finalist, finalist and winner of this award, as with all our awards, will be announced on this blog. Please be sure to follow us here for all updates.

All awards are decided by Hidden River staff, and decisions are final.
